Law Clerk Karina Estrada was born in Naples, Florida. She lived most of her life in Immokalee, Florida with her father and several siblings. Karina grew up playing soccer and tennis for many years. She found that she enjoyed helping others and dedicated her time to serving in soup kitchens and tutoring children. While attending high school, she participated in her school's dual enrollment program at Florida Southwestern State College.
After graduating from Immokalee High School Karina attended Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, Florida in pursuit of her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minor in Environmental Studies. While at FSU, Karina continued her volunteer efforts, participating in and contributing to several outreach initiatives relating to racial, social, and environmental justice. In 2017, after Hurricane Harvey, she volunteered to repair homes that were impacted in Houston; in 2018, she helped people seeking asylum status in Atlanta, Georgia; and in 2019, she volunteered to create and build a permaculture farm in Boone, North Carolina. As well as interning at Sustainable Tallahassee, where she researched and developed plans for local businesses that wanted to become sustainable while being cost-effective. Karina also participated in the FSU International Program in Italy, where she studied Communication & Media in Florence. This experience was rewarding because she honed her writing skills.
After graduating from FSU, Karina then worked as a legal assistant at a law firm before attending law school, where they practiced in estate planning, probate and real estate. During this time, Karina developed essential legal skills while supporting associate in real estate transactions. Karina's passion for assisting others led her to begin her law school journey at the University of Miami School of Law in August 2022. Since arriving in Miami, she has become involved with the First-Generation Law Student Association and the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. Entering her second year of law school, Karina commenced her role as a law clerk at Segarra & Associates, P.A. Within the firm, she has been fortunate to receive mentorship from two exceptional practicing attorneys: Attorneys Manuel “Manny” A. Segarra, III and Irech M. Colón.
In her capacity as a law clerk, Karina leverages her legal expertise and dedication to aid our clients during challenging times. She considers it a great privilege to directly influence the lives of ordinary individuals, a pursuit she aims to sustain throughout her professional journey.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, and indulging in new cooking recipes.
