Law Clerk Lauren Monteagudo was born and raised in Miami, Florida. As the children of two Cuban immigrants, Lauren and her younger brother were raised to embrace and love their Cuban heritage. Lauren danced ballet from the ages of 3 to 15, where she learned the importance of discipline and responsibility, two skills which would help her throughout the rest of her life. From a very young age, Lauren spent her summers traveling to different parts of the world and falling in love with being able to immerse herself in different cultures.
Throughout primary and secondary school, Lauren partook in Advanced Placement classes, Dual Enrollment courses, and was involved in many extracurricular activities including National Honors Societies and Student Government. In 2020, along with her high school diploma from iMater Preparatory, Lauren graduated with her Associate in Arts from Miami Dade College and Doral College. Throughout her education, Lauren had a special love for language arts and reading which later pushed her to pursue a Bachelors in English specializing in Writing and Rhetoric with a minor in Business Communications from Florida International University. While attending FIU, Lauren also worked at a law firm as a legal assistant, specializing in various fields including home insurance litigation, civil litigation, and real estate transactions.
After graduating from FIU, Lauren immediately began law school at St. Thomas University in August 2022. At St. Thomas, Lauren became involved with Law Review as the Article Solicitation Editor and the Cuban American Student Bar Association as the Secretary. She also spent the summer of 2023 studying abroad in Spain allowing her to compare American law and Spanish law while experiencing Spanish culture for part of the summer. Upon returning from summer abroad, Lauren immediately began clerking at the law firm which she worked in prior to law school, allowing her to extend her legal writing and research skills. Currently, Lauren is working as a law clerk at Segarra & Associates, P.A. where she receives great mentorship from two highly skilled attorneys: Attorneys Manuel “Manny” A. Segarra, III and Irech M. Colon.
As a law clerk, Lauren hopes to employ everything she has learned thus far in her legal career in a way that will benefit the needs of the firm's clients. Ever since deciding to pursue a career in law at the age of 13, Lauren has been interested in practicing family law and being able to help people through some of the most difficult times of their lives.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys reading books, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.
